Recently, one of my all time favorite crafters, Karin Åkesdotter, invited me to be part of the Creative Blog Hop. This is a fun blog hop that works a bit like a chain letter where you share answers to some questions and then invite new friends to join in the fun.
What a I working on now?
Currently, I working on no projects. School starting a couple of weeks ago, so I have been busy getting the year started, writing some grants for technology and supplies, and trying to not to succumb to exhaustion. Soon I will be working on cards for the design teams I am on--Cupcake Inspirations and Poppy Sketches. Then I hope to finish a mini-scrapbook featuring the first year of Catapult's life and begin working on clay ornaments for Christmas.
How does my work differ from others in my genre?
To be honest I am not sure if my work is that different than others. I say this mainly because I am inspired by what others are creating and I tend to use their ideas to spark my imagination. I prefer a clean and simple style with whimsical images, but I am willing to try new techniques and styles.
Why do I create what I do?
I think cards appeal to me because they are small scale, and I can get a feeling of accomplishment without having to wait a long time. (Teaching children the last 17 years has turned me into attention deficit crafter!) I also love cards because all my relatives live out of state, so I am always in need of a card to send.
How does my creative process work?
I learned a long time ago that I am not a visual thinker. Unlike many people, like my hubby, I cannot visualize what the end product will look like. Therefore, I begin with a sketch, theme challenge, or something inspiring on Pinterst to help me get started. I pull out the supplies I think I'll be using then I jump in. I do a lot of trial and error, and it can take me a long time to create something that I actually like.

This is year two for me.In May of 2011 I began a website devoted to crafting with dies. It is the best of all worlds because I have been a die-aholic from the early Sizzix days and I can use any and all products to make my projects. I post a new project every day.
