Week 1 Inspiration

The holidays are upon us, and this month we are asking for some Holiday Sparkle & Shine on your Newton's Nook Projects for winter, Christmas, and even New Year!

You have until Friday, December 19, 2025 (Midnight, CST) to play along. Each DT member will pick a favorite project to showcase, AND one RANDOM entry will win a $20 store credit to Newton's Nook Design online shop!  

I decided to go with a winter card with a coffee (or hot chocolate) theme. I created the stripe using the blue/snowy paper from the Snow Flurries paper pad. I cut out several snowflakes using the Snowfall die set. I love the silver edging with the vellum inside!  I placed the snowman with his mug from the Snowman Postage Sampler stamp set. At last, I pulled out red foil paper and die cut the sentiment using the A Hug in a Mug die. I love the simplicity of the card with a touch of glitter and shine.

Neutral Colored Holiday Card

 

I was inspired by the neutral colors of Inspired By challenge, so I pulled out my Taupe Tidings paper pad by Pajama Crafter Stamps. I let the paper take center stage. I die cut it with the scallop-edged die from the Frames & Flags die set by Newton's Nook Designs.  I added a couple two ribbons in shades of brown. I die cut the little tree (a NND freebie). A super simple card in nontraditional holiday colors.

This card came about in a fun way. I recently received my  'Tis the Season toner card front. I pulled the poinsettia toner front and some darker pink foil. When I was done, I wasn't completely happy with my results. I don't use a lot of foil, so I watched some YouTube videos and learned ways to get the foil to adhere better, but I hate to waste things, so I saved the panel.  Then a day later, I received a Newton's Nook Design email by Amanda Wilcox. She gave lots of great tips like using distress ink over the foiled image. So I did, and I salvaged the toner front panel. Yay. Then I looked through my NND Christmas stamped and cut images and found this sweet kitty tree. (Cat Christmas Tree stamp set). I haven't used this image for a long time, and it was already colored with hints of pinks!  Bonus!  I looked through the Christams Party paper pad and found the pink striped paper. I cut the tag out using the Essentials Tag die set.  I did some arranging of the image and the sentiment and felt there was something missing.  Thus, more paper from the same paper pad and the Gift Builder die set. I decided the card needed a bit of color, so I chose a green paper for the box. I tucked it behind the kitty tree, offset the stamped image and popped it up with 3D tape. Once I had that all arranged, I used my Misti to position and stamp the sentiment from the Christmas Time Cats stamp set. I love how this turned out.  Pink Christmas cards make me so happy!

Recently, a neighbor lost her beloved Corgi, Zha-Zha.  I already miss seeing Zha-Zha and my neighbor walking by.  I made this card to send my sympathy. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved fur baby. For this card, I used the Love & Woofs paper pad, Essentials Tags die set, Frames & Flags die set, and Furr-ever Friends stamp set.

Today's card features a very chubby Newton from the Newton's Thanksgiving stamp set. I colored him with Copic markers. (Poor guy!  It looks like he is about to pop!) I placed him and another slice of pie on a tag that was die cut using the Tags Essential die set and paper from the Autumn Woofs paper pad.  For my back panel, I used paper from the  Autumn paper pad and used the scallop-edged frame die from the Frames & Flags die sets. I add a bit of ribbon and twine from my stash of ribbons. Anyone else ready for some pumpkin pie?

I finally had time to play with one of the newly released Autumn products-the Autumn Fields stamp set. This little scarecrow is just so cute!  I then select papers from the Autumn and the Autumn Meows paper pads. I love the colors on the pumpkin paper, so I decided to color the scarecrow in the same palette.  The little bit of teal with the oranges--love it!  I cut the pumpkin paper with the postage-edge die from the Framework die set. For my tag, I cut the hounds tooth paper using the Fancy Edges die set. I assembled the card then added the stitched circle (Circle Frames die set) which I had stamped the sentiment from the Pumpkin Tails set.  I love all the textures in this pretty autumn card!

I lightly distressed the background in blue before using the Evergreens stencil. I then added some pink snowflakes using the Petite Snow stencil. I angled this panel atop the pink-polka dotted paper from the Pastel Basics paper pad. I stamped and colored using Copic markers the sweet feline from the  Snow Angel Newton stamp set. I added this image with some 3D foam tape. The red sentiment is from the Heartfelt Holidays stamp set.

Don't you love when a card turns out cuter than you imagined! This is one of those! I started by subtly adding pink snowflakes using the Snowflake stencil. I don't use stencils nearly enough! Then I stamped the feline image from the Newton's Christmas Tree stamp set. I used my Scan'n'Cut to cut it out, but there's a coordinating die option available. I then used Copic markers to color the image in the challenge colors. . I heat embossed the sentiment from the Snowflake Oval. At last, I added 3D tape to give dimension to the tree image.

I created a fun birthday card using the Confetti stencil with papers from the Pastel Basics paper pad. I colorsed all those packages from the Sky High Celebrations stamp set in the colors of the challenge. At last, I added the birthday sentiment from the Dog Birthday Party stamp set. A super cute way to celebrate one's special day!

I created this fun card using googly eyes!  When I spied the "eyes" paper from the Halloween Time paper pad, I got the idea to make a card using googly eyes. I die cut the paper using the zig-zag die from the Frames & Tags die set. I adhered the paper to a dark lavender card base. I then used the Jar Hot Foil Plate & Die with a fuschia foil. I used a die from the Basic Frames die set to create the open center. I continued to make my shaker card by filling it with some different sized eyes. I cut a tag using the  Frames & Tags die set. I did trim it down once I added the "price" using a stamp from the Birthday Postage Sampler stamp set. I adhered the tag using some twine. At last, I made the banner using the Banner Trio die set with a sentiment from the Spooky Roundabout stamp set. I love how this turned out!
